Deniz Çelikel, the founder of our company, began her career as a high school student working in various roles, including at TRT and Turkey's first private radio station. She prepared and presented programs on radio and television and continued to work as a speaker and programmer until she graduated from Middle East Technical University. After graduation, she worked as a statistician, programmer, software developer, and web designer.
After 11 years working as a patent and trademark attorney, international relations officer, web designer, and programmer at various firms, she established Desi Patents & Trademarks Office on 25 October 2004. Since 2021, the firm has continued its activities as a limited company.
Mrs. Deniz Çelikel is a member of INTA, AIPPI and PEM, and not only a registered patent and trademark attorney but also an Intellectual Property expert witness before the Civil Courts for Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights. In addition to being a sworn translator, she is also a part-time lecturer in Turkey and abroad, teaching SQL, software development, data mining, database management, and intellectual property rights.
She has developed two software programs (DesiIPSoft® and DesiSoft®) specifically for IP matters. As her main profession is intellectual property, these programs are among the most proficient examples worldwide. One of the programs is used to search all published intellectual property rights in Turkey, while the other is used to track client-specific files, prepare correspondence, and generate detailed reports exclusively for clients.
She has authored several published books and articles. Her first book was published in 2020; the first and second editions sold out in just two months, followed by an additional edition in 2021, an extended third edition in 2024 and an extended fourth edition in 2026. Her second and third books were published in 2024.
The first two books are unique in their field, while the third is the first and only book of its kind. All books are available at many libraries, including the Harvard Law School Library. Deniz Çelikel lectures as a guest instructor at many institutions, including some of the world's leading universities.
Deniz Çelikel expanded her professional activities internationally by establishing Desi Global Limited in the United Kingdom and Desi Europe d.o.o. in Montenegro.
In addition, she has been entered into the public register in Canada by the College of Patent Agents and Trademark Agents (CPATA) as both a Foreign Patent Agent Practitioner and a Foreign Trademark Agent Practitioner. This status is an extremely limited and exceptional registration granted to intellectual property professionals residing outside Canada who are authorized in their own country. With fewer than 30 individuals worldwide having been admitted to this status, Deniz Çelikel became the first and only Turkish professional admitted to the register, further strengthening her international activities and global service network in the field of intellectual property.
