Egypt Moves Trademark and Design Grievance Proceedings Online
← All News
The Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority (EGIPA) has moved the proceedings of its grievance committees, which hear challenges against decisions of the General Department of Trademarks and Industrial Designs, to an online format.
Under the new system:
- Committees now meet remotely, and applicants or their representatives can join online when their case is heard to present their arguments.
- In-person attendance remains available, subject to the committee’s schedule.
- Documents and evidence can be filed electronically through a dedicated link for each committee. Originals may still be requested where needed.
- All sessions are recorded.
EGIPA asks that all documents and written submissions be filed at least two working days before the hearing. Friday and Saturday are official holidays in Egypt and do not count.
